Dale Opdahl, 89, of Harvey died Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at his home.

Funeral services will be held at the Vang Lutheran Church of Manfred on Monday, September 23, 2024, at 2:00 p.m.  Visitation will be held at the Hertz Funeral Home of Harvey on Sunday from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m.  Public prayer services will be held on Sunday at 5:00 p.m. at the Hertz Funeral Home of Harvey.  Burial will be in the Vang Lutheran Cemetery of Manfred.

Dale was born on August 7, 1935, to Albert "Edwin" and Valborg "Sophie" (Rogness) Opdahl, and grew up on the family farm near Manfred.  Dale and his brother, Gary, helped their father on the farm, and eventually Dale took over the family farm.  Dale married Shirley Lautt on September 2, 1956, in Harvey.  They made their home on the family farm and raised turkeys for a time. Later, they began a dairy and beef cattle operation, and also farmed and raised other animals.  Dale worked one day a week for many years for the Harvey Ring Sale when it was in operation.  Dale enjoyed riding horses, farming, and taking care of the animals on the farm.  Dale was a member of the Vang Lutheran Church of Manfred, Harvey Rural Fire Department for 43 years, Wells Eagles Arie #3080, and a charter member of the Sheyenne River Saddle Club in Harvey.

Dale is survived by his wife, Shirley, of Harvey; daughter, Ilona (Art) Thomas, of Harvey; sons, Rodney (Lori) Opdahl of Harvey, Kelly (Dawn) of Garrison, Kent (Angel) Opdahl of Harvey, and Aaron (Carrie) Opdahl of Fessenden; 18 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; sisters, Verneil Eisenbraun of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, and Phillis Pantsari of Rock Lake, ND; brother, Dennis Opdahl of Eau Claire, Wisconsin.  Dale was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Jean LeClaire; and brother, Gary Opdahl.
