Corwin S. Effertz, 69, Denhoff formerly of Minot died Wednesday, December 24, 2014 at the St. Aloisius Hospital in Harvey. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 29 at Hertz Funeral Home, McClusky. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, ND.

Corwin was born on September 18, 1945 in Minot. He was the son of Stanley and Lois (Pretzer) Effertz. He grew up and attended school in Minot and graduated from Minot High School in 1963. He then attended Minot State College. Corwin entered the US Navy on June 23, 1964 and was honorably discharged on February 16, 1968. Following his discharge he returned to Minot and finished his college education. Corwin then worked for the Minot Police Department for 32 years. He married Bonnie Melby on April 8, 1971 in Minot. They lived in Minot until moving to Denhoff, North Dakota in 2011. They spent time in the summer at their Strawberry Lake cabin where he enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his family and grandchildren. Corwin loved collecting guns and reading.

Corwin is survived by his wife, Bonnie Effertz of Denhoff; children, Traci Lynn Peterson of Bullhead City, AZ, Bart James Effertz of Minot, Three grandchildren, AJ Effertz, Breydon Effertz, Isaac Peterson; mother, Lois Effertz of Minot; sisters, Sue Stolba of Minot, Vicky Triplett of Minot, Paula Vilala of Hayward, CA.

Corwin was preceded in death by his father, Stanley Effertz; infant daughter, Danielle Louise Effertz.
