Clyde Neff, 74, Mandan, ND formerly of McClusky, ND died Saturday, August 12, 2023 at his home. Funeral services will be Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at 1 p.m. at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Bismarck. Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at 4 p.m. in the McClusky City Cemetery.
Clyde was born on April 29, 1949, in McClusky, ND. He was the son of Marvin and Elaine (Helm) Neff. He grew up in McClusky and graduated from McClusky High School in 1967. He attended Bismarck Junior College and received a diploma in welding. Clyde returned to McClusky and was a carpenter at McClusky Lumber. Later he began working as a carpenter and cement finisher for Industrial Builders of Fargo. He worked primarily on bridges in North Dakota and surrounding states. On weekends he would return to McClusky to spend time with family and friends. Clyde was married to Judy Hoftiezer and she passed away on April 11, 1997. On May 8, 1999, Clyde married Cheryl Minnick Taylor in McClusky and they lived in Mandan. Cheryl joined the Lord on February 14, 2023.
Clyde was a member of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church and participated in Bible study, making items for charitable causes and other church functions. He fished extensively with his father Marvin and later with his brother, Marlyn. He participated in numerous fishing tournaments including the Governor's Cup Walleye Tournament where he placed several times. He also had several "Whopper" patches for different fish species. His other hobbies included hunting and watching the Minnesota Twins.
Clyde is survived by his brother, Marlyn (Paulette) Neff of Mandan; stepchildren, Neil Taylor and Kelly Lesney; six step-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; niece Melodie Neff and her husband Matthew Miller.
Clyde was preceded in death by his parents Marvin and Elaine, and wives, Judy, and Cheryl.
