Clarence Lemer, 80, of Anamoose, ND died Tuesday, August 27, 2024 in Anamoose.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 Saturday, August 31, 2024 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Anamoose with burial following in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday with a Rosary and Prayer Service at 7 p.m. at the church. The Funeral Mass will be streamed on the Prairie Pothole Parishes Facebook page.
Clarence was born on September 23, 1943, in Harvey, ND to Henry and Pauline (Martin) Lemer. He grew up on the family farm north of Anamoose and attended Lake View Country School # 3 and graduated from Anamoose High School in 1963. Clarence worked as a carpenter for several years before working in the asphalt plant for Collin's Construction Company. He took over the family farm after his father's death in 1975. He farmed and ranched but especially enjoyed working with the cattle. Clarence lived with his brother James on the Lemer farm for many years. He enjoyed hunting and snowmobiling in his younger days and playing cards, enjoying coffee with friends, visiting, and always expressed interest in his nieces and nephews. Until recently he served on the Antelope Lake Township Board and the Anamoose Rural Fire Protection District. He enjoyed giving his dog Smokey a ride around the country in the evenings.
Clarence was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Anamoose and a Third-Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council in Drake.
Clarence is survived by his brothers, Allen Lemer of Anamoose, Eugene Lemer of Valley City; sisters, Eileen Bjorland of Harvey and Diane Lemer of Bismarck. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, June Lemer on May 29, 2017, Frances Lageson on February 12, 2024 and brother James on February 25, 2024, brother-in-law, William Lageson and sister-in-law, Phyllis Lemer.
Clarence's and James's faithful dog Smokey continues to watch over the farm after their passing.
