Clarence Heitzmann, 88 of rural McClusky died on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at home.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 14, 2015 at the Seventh-day Adventist Church, McClusky.

Burial will be in the McClusky City Cemetery

Clarence Heitzmann was born February 18, 1927 to Louisa (Kluck) Heitzmann and Adam Heitzmann on the farm south east of McClusky, ND where his whole life was spent. He grew up there and attended the Lamont Township Country School.

He married Alvina M. (Flemmer) Heitzmann on January 6, 1949 at her parents farm in Streeter, ND during a snow blizzard.

His life work was spent as a farmer raising wheat, barley, oats, sunflowers, flax, corn, soybeans, and hay. He also raised cattle, horses, sheep, turkeys, chickens, geese and ducks.
In his early years, he trapped and hunted rabbits and muskrats, and enjoyed shore fishing and ice fishing. In 1953, he was very ill and spent 11 days in the hospital with encephalitis. He and Alvina built a house together in 1965. He retired in 2006.

Hobbies he enjoyed were reading, gardening, woodworking, and traveling. His memorable trips were to Glacier National Park, Yellowstone National Park, and a guided Alaska tour.

He was a long time member of the McClusky SDA Church, where he served as Sabbath School Superintendent and Elder for 40 years. He also served as a Lamont School Board Member and a Sheridan County Farm Bureau Member.

He was preceded in death by his wife Alvina, his parents Adam and Louisa, sisters, Hilda, Elsie, Leah, and Adeline, and brothers Eddie and Alfred.

He is survived by two daughters Ivana (Scott) Meacham of Bellingham, WA, Lila (Bob) Anderson Spokane, WA; son, Neal (Lisa) Heitzmann, McClusky; grandchildren, Karrina and Brent Meacham, Shawn and Nick Anderson; sisters Clara Wetenkamp of Wahpeton, ND and Luella Bullock of Flint, MI and many nieces and nephews.
