Charles T. Merrill, 70, Harvey, ND died on Saturday March 3, 2018 at the St. Aloisius Hospital in Harvey, ND.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 8, 2018 at Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey, ND.  Burial will be in the Bloomfield Lutheran Cemetery, Upham, ND.

Visitation will be on Thursday from 12:00 noon until service time at Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey, ND.

Charles Thomas Merrill was born on May 31, 1947 at Kenmare, ND.  He was the son of Arthur P. and Mary Jean (Peterson) Merrill.  His dad worked on the railroad and they lived in numerous towns in northwestern North Dakota and Canada. He attended grade school and graduated from high school in Outlook, Montana.

He served two years in the Navy from 1966 to 1968 and was in the reserves for several years. Charles worked for the Soo Line Railroad which is now known as the Canadian Pacific Railroad.  He worked in Westby, Montana, Kramer, ND, Lansford, ND, and Harvey, ND where he worked on the section crew and retired in 2007.  He married Gail Lynne Natwich on November 28, 1987.

He is survived by his wife; Gail of Harvey; sister, Jean Edlund.  He was preceded in death by a son, Gale Charles Merrill who was born and died on March 10, 1990; brothers Mike and Merlin Merrill.
