Charles William Best, 78, passed away on Monday, April 25, 2016 at the St Aloisius Medical Center in Harvey ND surrounded by family after a 6-year battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held at the New Life On Main Church of Harvey on Friday April 29, 2016 at 10:30 am. Visitation will be held at the Hertz Funeral Home of Harvey on Thursday from 2pm until 7pm. Burial will be in the Sunnyside Cemetery of Harvey.

Charles was born at home March 20, 1938 in Hurdsfield, ND to Charles Francis and Susie (Kleinsasser) Best. Charles grew up on the family farm in Chaseley, ND. He attended grade school in Hurdsfield and Jr. High in Harvey and graduated from 8th grade at BM Hanson Elementary School in Harvey, ND. He then worked on the family farm. Charles married Dorothy Baltrusch September 26, 1958 at the Bowdon Church of God. They farmed in Chaseley for a few years. They then purchased the Harvey Meat Market in 1968 he retired in 1976 as a butcher . After retirement Charles sold cars at BJ Ford before becoming manager of Ralph's Super Valu for several years.
Charles was a member of the New Life on Main in Harvey, ND.
Charles is survived by his wife of 57 years, Dorothy of Harvey; two daughters, Julie and her husband John Keane of Tomball, TX and Janell and her husband Paul Rudel of Fessenden ND; and four sisters, Clara Knodel, Geraldine Hoffard and Mary Lou (Gilbert) Schmidt all of Harvey; and Grace Frueh (Steven) of Scottsbluff NE.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles Francis Sr and Susie (Kleinsasser) Best and brother-in-law's Richard Knodel, Bernard 'Bud' Hoffard and Delmer Frueh.
