Brittany (Wiest) Butt, 25, of Anchorage, Alaska died unexpectedly on November 12, 2014.

Brittany was born on August 15, 1989, in Fairfax, Virginia to Natalie (Wiest) Velasquez and Thomas Taylor.

Brittany attended Mount Vernon High School in Alexandria, Virginia where she graduated with an International Baccalaureate degree at age 16 in 2006. She volunteered at an animal shelter in Washington State and worked at a vet clinic in Hayfield, Virginia. Her dream was to be a sports veterinarian and to run the Iditarod. Recently, she was taking pre-veterinarian courses online through the University of North Carolina after taking classes at the University of Pittsburgh. Brittany was also a dog handler for Karen Ramstead.

Above all, Brittany considered motherhood to be her greatest achievement.

Brittany is survived by her husband Jeff, son Teige; mother Natalie (Wiest) Velasquez (Ed Slouffman); father Thomas Taylor (Megin); sister Bridget Velasquez; step-father David Velasquez; grandmother Janett Winslow. She was preceded in death by sister Tasha Wiest; grandparents Calvin Wiest and Helen (Sherlock) Wiest. Services were held at Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church, 1612 Oceanview Dr., Anchorage, Alaska on Sunday, November 16, 2014.

Services will also be held at St. Martin Lutheran Church, Anamoose, ND on Saturday, November 22 at 2 p.m. with burial following in the church cemetery.
