Brad was born on April 7, 1955 in Devils Lake, ND to Albert and Amelia (Leier) Bachmeier. He grew up on the family farm south of Esmond and graduated from Esmond High School in 1973. Brad pursued a degree in Agricultural Economics from North Dakota State University in 1977.

Brad married Mary Ellen Weinmann on July 23, 1982 in Harvey. They farmed their family-owned farm south of Esmond where they raised their four children and cherished visits from their grandchildren, who frequently requested to visit "Papa B" on the tractor. Brad was known for his generous spirit and helping neighbors and fellow farmers when needed. His family will remember him as extremely hard-working, intelligent, and independent. He served as a wonderful role model for his children and others.

Brad was a member of the St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Harvey. He served as the secretary/treasurer of the Esmond Men's Club and was a member of the Wells Eagles Aerie in Harvey. He served on the Alexanter Township Board in Pierce County.

Brad had a love for sports with a special passion for basketball. He enjoyed cheering on the NDSU Bison and the Green Bay Packers, for which he was also a stockholder. He served as a referee for elementary and junior high basketball games and also coached his children's basketball teams throughout the years. Previously, Brad played on amateur softball and basketball teams. His favorite activities included having BBQs and bonfires at the family farm, playing pinochle, and traveling, most recently visiting his daughter Britney in Maui, Hawaii. Other activities that brought Brad great joy were sitting in "his" living room chair watching ESPN, eating at the Esmond Café, and having loud and over-analytical discussions with his three brothers.

Brad and Mary would have celebrated their 32nd wedding anniversary on July 23rd.

Brad is survived by his wife, Mary; four children, Rachel (Joe) Haman, Mandan, son, Brent (Amber) of Prior Lake, MN; Britney Bachmeier who is serving in the Peace Corps in Lesotho, Africa, Jaclyn Bachmeier of Esmond; three grandchildren, Jackson, Alex, and Kiera (Mandan); mother, Amelia Bachmeier of Harvey; three brothers, Kenneth (Susan) of Esmond; Stanley (Bonnie) of West Fargo; Rodney (Lori) of Mandan.
