Beverly Ann Vander Vorst, 77, Harvey, ND died Saturday, September 27, 2025, at the St. Aloisius Nursing Home, Harvey, ND. A visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, October 10 at the Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey. Interment will be in Sunnyside Cemetery, Harvey, ND.
Beverly was born on June 6, 1948, in Harvey. She was the daughter of Leonard and Loretta (Weber) Smestad. She grew up on the family farm west of Harvey and graduated from Harvey High School in 1966. After high school, Beverly attended Minot State College, Northern State College in Aberdeen, SD. In 1977 she graduated from St. John's School of Nursing in Redwing, MN. She lived in River Falls, Wisconsin from 1969 to 1977 and was a licensed practical nurse (LPN) working in River Falls and at Children's Hospital in St. Paul, MN. She moved to Devils Lake, ND in 1977 and worked at Mercy Hospital. In 1978, she moved to Harvey and worked at the St. Aloisius Nursing Home as an LPN. 1n 1982 she went on disability and continued to reside in Harvey. Beverly was once married to Arnold Vander Vorst.
Beverly was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Harvey. She began bowling at age 11 and participated in bowling leagues for many years. Her other hobbies included knitting and crocheting and enjoyed many hours of enjoyment using her iPad. She was an active member in the Beginning Experience program in Harvey.
Beverly is survived by her son Garth (Jennifer) Vander Vorst of Houlton, Wisconsin; Uncle Louis Weber of Idaho Falls, Idaho; sister-in-law, Susan Smestad; nephews, Jerome and Mark Hagemeister of Fessenden, ND.
Beverly was preceded in death by her parents; brother Richard Smestad; sister Loraine Hagemeister; aunts Emaline Marchand and Betty Weldele; uncles James Weber and Aloys Weber, brother-in-law, Jerry Hagemeister.
