Betty Brumley Skoglund, 86, of Harvey, ND, died on Friday, December 27, 2019 at the St. Aloisius Nursing Home in Harvey.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at the Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey, ND.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 2, 2020 at the Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey, ND. Burial will be in the spring in the Evangelical United Brethren Cemetery in Anamoose, ND.
Betty was born on December 22, 1933 in Anamoose, ND. She was the daughter of Christ and Martha (Wolf) Baier. She was baptized and confirmed at a rural Lutheran Church south of Anamoose. She grew on the family farm southwest of Anamoose, ND and attended high school in Anamoose. She moved to California in 1955 and was employed by the Pacific Telephone Company. Betty married Gene Brumley on September 7, 1957 in Reno, Nevada. They lived in California and Colorado before returning to North Dakota. They lived in Sheridan County. Gene died on July 1, 1985. She operated the Goodrich Café in 1987 and 1988. Betty obtained her North Dakota Insurance License and worked at MTI in Fessenden and lived there for ten years. In 2007 she moved to Harvey and was employed by the Harvey Police Department and Harvey Senior Citizens. She entered the St. Aloisius Nursing Home in Harvey in 2016. Betty was once married to Ray Skoglund. Betty especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends; reading and crocheting.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Connie (Dwight) Stenberg of Maddock; three grandchildren, Nicole (Jon) Franklin of Harvey; Jeff (Roslyn) Coombs of Austin, Texas; Brandon Seibel of Harvey; five great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Caleb, Jeremiah and Tristan Franklin, Adie Coombs; sisters, Elaine Staggs of Elk Grove, CA; and Bonnie Schilling of Fargo, ND; brother, Hilmer Baier of Kulm, ND. Betty was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Gene.
