Betsy Sauter 74 of Goodrich died Wednesday March 13, 2013 at the St. Aloisius Hospital of Harvey. Funeral services will be held at the Peace Lutheran Church of Goodrich on Saturday March 16, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. Visitation will be held at the Hertz Funeral Home of McClusky on Friday from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Burial will be held at the Goodrich City Cemetery.
Betsy was born on January 3, 1939 in Wilson, North Carolina. She was the daughter of Alfred and Rosamond (Ward) Moore. Betsy grew up and attended school in Jacksonville, North Carolina. She married Floyd Sauter on April 10, 1954 in Jacksonville. They moved to North Dakota in 1957. They lived in Denhoff, ND until moving to Goodrich, ND in 1975. Floyd died on March 18, 1991.
Betsy was a member of Peace Lutheran Church of Goodrich where she was a Sunday school teacher for many years. Betsy was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Pioneer Homemakers Club both of Goodrich. Betsy enjoyed cooking, canning, baking, growing flowers, reading and puzzle books.
Betsy is survived by son, Richard (Stephanie) Sauter of Felton, PA; daughters, Donna (Fred) Gorwell of Garretson, SD, Tina (William) Widiger, Great Bend, KS, Cindy (Richard) Zumbaum of Minot, Peggy (Tom) Schimelfenig of Bowdon, Rosanne Schmitt and her fiancé Bill Pritchett of Wayne, West Virginia, Helen Sauter and friend Randy Posser of Jamestown, ND; 21 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; brothers, Billy Moore, Kinston, NC, Jimmy Moore, Richlands, NC, Jan Moore, Jacksonville, NC. Betsy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Floyd; grandson, Tristan Sauter; sister, Nell Rose Moore.
