Bertha Nelson 90, Winona, MN formerly of Harvey and rural Denhoff, ND died Friday, May 18, 2012 at the Saint Anne Extended Health Center in Winona.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 25, 2012 at the Mennonite Brethren Church, Harvey. Burial will be in the Denhoff Cemetery.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

Bertha was born February 4, 1922 to Nathaniel and Dora (Rall) Bohnet in Yucca, ND in Burleigh County. She was raised in Wells County and graduated from Hurdsfield High School in 1941.
She married Harry G. Nelson, of Denhoff, North Dakota, on April 4, 1942. They lived on the family farm until Harry's death in 1981.
Bertha was a teacher and taught in rural schools in Sheridan County for six years. In January of 1959 she started work at the ASCS office in McClusky as a government clerk. On February 28, 1982 Bertha retired and moved to Harvey, North Dakota in March of 1983.
She was a member of the Harvey Mennonite Brethren Church, the Farm and Homemakers Club and the St. Aloisius Medical Center Auxiliary.
Those left to cherish her memory include: her daughter, Sharon (Joe) Sinclair of Pasadena, California; son, Rod (Nancy) Nelson of Winona, Minnesota; and daughter-in-law, Sharee Nelson of Bismarck, North Dakota; six grandchildren: Melissa Perreault; Bill (Kathleen) Sinclair; Kelley Nelson; Amanda (Dustin) Karber; Jackie (Deacon) Eells; Jacob Nelson; three great grandchilden: Lawson Karber; Sterling Karber; and Teddy Sinclair; two step-grandchildren: Michael (Kimberly) Sinclair; Nikki (Chris) Thiffault; three great step-grandchildren: Nicolas Ovendale; Paul Sinclair; and Jack Sinclair; sisters: Emma Westman of Harvey, North Dakota; and Martha Haakenson of Audubon, Minnesota; brothers: Albert of Falkville, Alabama;  James of Danesville, Michigan; LeRoy of Glendale, Arizona; George of Black Canyon City, Arizona; and Allan of Hurdsfield, North Dakota.
Bertha was preceded in death by her husband Harry; son, Myron; her parents; and brothers: Arnold, Bennie, Edward and Richard.
