Bernell B. Bonnet, 83, McClusky, ND died Wednesday, August 16, 2023, in a Bismarck Hospital.  Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at St. John's Lutheran Church, McClusky.  Burial will be in the McClusky City Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to service time at the church.

Bernell B Bonnet was born September 26, 1939, to John and Emma (Waltz) Bonnet near Lincoln Valley.  He grew up on the farm and attended country school and McClusky High School, where he graduated in 1957.  Bernell went on to attend NDSU for a while as well as joining the United States Army in January 1959 and serving until January 1961.   He then returned to the farm north of McClusky and farmed with his parents.

Bernell married Jeanette Porsborg on February 28, 1969, and they made their home on the farm as well as raising their two children Brad and Bev.  Bernell raised and milked cows for many years until in the early 70's they switched to beef cattle.  They also raised small grain crops. They moved to McClusky in 2001 but Bernell continued to help on the farm for many years.

Bernell enjoyed farming and ranching, playing cards, and fishing.  He had a sense of humor like no other.  His grandchildren were his pride and joy.  He always wanted to know how they had done in all of their activities.  He could always be counted on to have an endless supply of chocolate available for anyone who wanted some.

Bernell was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, the McClusky Rural Fire Department, McClusky Sportsman's Club, served on the board of the Co-op Elevator for many years, the Lincoln Valley Cemetery Board and the American Legion.

Bernell is survived by his son, Brad (Tammy) Bonnet, Bismarck; his daughter Bev (Kendon) Faul, McClusky; 7 grandchildren; Kyle (Brandi) Bonnet, Bismarck; Kody (Breanna) Faul, McClusky; Brian Bonnet, Williston; Hope Bonnet, Bismarck; Shelby Faul and her fiancée Cole Felchle, McClusky; Brook Bonnet, Bismarck and Dylan Faul, McClusky; 3 great- granddaughters Kinsley, Jadah and Avenley Bonnet, Bismarck.  Many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Bernell was preceded in death by his wife Jeanette in 2021, his parents John and Emma Bonnet and an infant brother Arlie.
