Art was born on January 16, 1945, in Harvey to Joseph Muscha and Margaret (Holzer) Muscha of Harvey. He grew up on the family farm in rural Harvey where at age 5 he began shoveling grain for the thrashing machine and milking cows by hand. Upon graduating from Harvey High School, Art worked for various farmers in the area before entering the service. While in the service Art began to foster his love of mechanics by taking up heavy equipment operations. Upon being honorably discharged from the service in the spring of 1966, Art began his career by driving semi for JP Wiest. In the fall of 1966 Art moved to Casselton, ND where he began working as a mechanic for Holt Implement. On April 8, 1967 Art was joined in marriage to the love of his life, Judy Ann Grossman in Anamoose, ND. Art and Judy were blessed with their 2 children Tammy and Daren. Art continued to work in Casselton until they moved to Fessenden in the spring of 1979. Art and Judy would reside there for over 40 years. At that time Art began working on the farm for his cousin, Don Muscha. While farming with Don, Art also did mechanic work for many farmers in the area. In 1980, Art began driving semi and doing mechanic work for Kost Trucking. Kost Trucking sold to Central Carriers in 2000. Art continued to work for Central Carriers until June of 2008, ending a 42-year career of turning wrenches. Art ended his career doing what he began his life doing, working on the farm. Art worked for Hagemeister farms south of Fessenden until the effects of his Parkinson's disease forced him to retire. After retirement Art and Judy moved to Grand Forks to be closer to his family so they could help care for him.
Art enjoyed tinkering in his garage and working on anything with a small engine. Art always enjoyed fellowship and he could easily make a short story long. He loved mechanics and figuring out how things worked. He could throw a mean game of darts and he loved to go on walks, garden, hunt, ride his motorcycle, 4-wheeler, snowmobile and bicycle. He also had a life long love of horses. Throughout his life Art was active in the American Legion, the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the parish council. The most important things in Art's life were his faith and family. He was very dedicated to both.
Art is survived by Judy, his wife of over 56 years and their children Tammy (Sean) Deringer of Maple Lake, MN and Daren (Jamie) Muscha of Grand Forks, ND; grandchildren, Devin (Anne) Deringer, Brianna Deringer, Brooke, Dalton and Colt Muscha; sister Virginia, twin sister Rose and brother Richard.
Art is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Paul, Louis, Anthony, Wilfred and Bennie; sisters, Margaret, Rita, Caroline and Shirley as well as several brother and sister-in-law's. Arrangements with Hertz Funeral Homes, Harvey, ND.
