Arlo Dockter 81 of West Fargo formerly of Anamoose died Saturday August 13, 2011 at the Essentia Hospital in Fargo.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at the Faith Lutheran Church, Harvey.
Interment will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, North Dakota.
Friends may sign the guest book on Tuesday, Sept. 20 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey, ND.
Arlo Elroy Dockter was born on February 18, 1930 south of Anamoose. He was the son of Fred F. Dockter and Elsie Docktor. Arlo grew up and attended rural school near Harvey. He then attended Minot College Of Business. Arlo married Phyllis Hill on June 26, 1955 at Roseglen, ND. They lived in Minot for several years. Arlo was in the insurance business before moving south of Anamoose where they farmed. Arlo and Phyllis moved to West Fargo in July 2006.
Arlo was a former member of First Lutheran Church of Harvey where he served on the church council. He served on the McLean/Sheridan Rural Water Board and was a member of the Anamoose Wildlife Club. He was a Life Member and past commander of the Oswald Wohl Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 6831 in Anamoose. He also served as a VFW District Commander.
Arlo is survived by his wife, Phyllis of West Fargo; two sons and daughters-in-law, Steven and Renae Dockter of Rugby, ND, David and Becky Dockter of Madison, Alabama; six grandchildren, Stephanie (Brad) Johnson and Joshua Dockter of Manvel, ND, Dustin, Tyler, Alexis and Jacob Dockter of Madison, Alabama; two brothers and Dennis Dockter of Cogswell, ND, Curtis Dockter of Shoreview, MN. Arlo was preceded in death by his parents; grandson Nathan Dockter; brother, Burnell; sisters, Gladys and Luella.
