Ardella Violet Reiswig's Obituary
Ardella Reiswig 82 of Harvey died Thursday November 1, 2012 at the St. Aloisius Nursing Home in Harvey.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, November 5 at the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Harvey.
Visitation will be Sunday from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey.
Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery, Harvey, ND.
Ardella Violet Reiswig was born April 17, 1930 near Butte, ND. She was the daughter of William and Mae (Wenko) Kostenko. The family moved to the Killdeer area where she attended grade school. Ardella graduated from the Sheyenne River Seventh-day Adventist Academy in Harvey in 1948. Ardella and Berdette Reiswig were united in marriage on August 29, 1948 in Harvey. They lived and farmed south of Harvey. In 1962 they moved to their current farm southeast of Harvey along the James River. They had two children, Renaye and Kent. Ardella was a homemaker and was also a clerk for the ND Stockman's Association. She and Irene Bechthold operated the Harvey Livestock Auction Café in Harvey for several years.
Ardella was an active member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and their Dorcas Society. She was a Sabbath School Teacher and assisted with many other church activities. She also participated in the weekend singing bands at the St. Aloisius Nursing Home. "Del" was a generous hostess and often treated her guests to her renowned "German Kuchen." She decorated her yard with flowers and grew a huge garden that included a special variety of cucumbers from seeds that were saved from year to year, passed down from her mother's ancestors in Russia. Ardella entered the St. Aloisius Nursing Home in Harvey in April 2012.
Ardella is survived by her husband; daughter, Renaye (Al) Wartner of Jamestown; son, Kent (DeNae) Reiswig of Randolph, MN; three grandchildren, Chris Reiswig, Tara Reiswig Darst and Jeff Wartner; three great-grandchildren, Ian, Nora and Launa; two sisters, Marlys Alvarez of Pasadena, CA and Margaret Scheresky of Boise, ID.
Ardella was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Arthur Kostenko.
