Annemarie Ripplinger, 88, Minot formerly of Selz, ND died Sunday, May 6, 2018 at a nursing home in Minot.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 11 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Harvey, ND. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time.
Annemarie was born on July 26, 1929 in Mannheim, Germany. She was the daughter of Johann and Anna (Echter) Hilterhaus. She was a young student during much of the German take over during World War II. Eventually WWII battles and extensive bombing were right in her home town this forced many fast dashes to bomb shelters. Near the end of the war Annemarie worked for the US army as an interpreter. There she met her future husband, Victor Ripplinger and they were married on October 28, 1947 in Mannheim, Germany. Annemarie came to the US as a war bride and lived on the family farm in Selz. Annemarie was an only child and never wished that on anyone. Annemarie was active with her church and her church choir. She enjoyed embroidery, shopping and solving puzzles. During her retirement years she made many trips back to Germany and operated her parents guest house and restaurant. After selling the family farm Annemarie moved to Minot and eventually to the Maple View Care Center in Minot.
Annemarie is survived by her sons, James (Bonnie) Ripplinger, Hank (Bobbie) Ripplinger, Thomas (Jane) Ripplinger all of Minot, John Ripplinger, Mesa, AZ, Ted Ripplinger, Cecilia, KY, Richard (Selena) Ripplinger, Idaho Falls, ID, Todd Ripplinger of Bemidji, MN, Scott (Susan) Ripplinger of Fargo; daughters, Sharon Albert, Talihina, OK, Mary O'Leary, Boca Raton, FL, Dolores (Greg) Adams, Black Hawk, CO, Darlene (George) Harris, Sacramento, CA, Rosemary Freeh, Jamestown; 26 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Annemarie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Victor; grandson, Christopher Freeh; son-in-law, Richard Freeh. Memorials are preferred to the Maple View Care Center of Minot, Meals on Wheels or a local food pantry of donors choice.
