Ambrose Schneider, 86 Harvey, ND died Thursday, June 7, 2012 at the St. Aloisius Nursing Home, Harvey.

Funeral mass will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Selz.

Visitation will be from Tuesday from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. with prayer services at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey.

Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Ambrose was born on August 13, 1925 north of Selz, ND. He was the son of Andrew and Katherine (Geisinger) Schneider. He grew up and attended rural school near Selz. As a young man he worked on the family farm. Ambrose married Elizabeth Bachmeier on November 6, 1951 in Fulda, ND. They made their home on the Schneider family farm north of Selz. Ambrose and Betty raised their seven daughters there. He retired from farming and they moved to Harvey in the fall of 2000. Betty passed away on July 16, 2009. Ambrose had been a resident of the St. Aloisius Nursing home since 2009.

Ambrose was a member of the St. Anthony Catholic Church, Selz, ND.

Ambrose enjoyed playing cards with friends, taking care of his dairy herd, watching Minnesota Twins Baseball and spending time with his grandchildren. Ambrose had a gift of being able to converse and mix with anyone that crossed paths with him.

Ambrose is survived by six daughters, Linda Schneider of Jamestown, Geri (Bob) Stephan of Fingal, ND, Elaine (Gerald) Koble of Anamoose, Diane (Ken) Streifel of Esmond, Jackie (Doug) Wolfe of Selz, Laurie Bredeson, Brooklyn Park, MN; 13 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; brother, Edward Schneider of Las Vegas, NV.

Ambrose was preceded in death by his parents; wife; an infant son Robert; daughter, Judy; brothers, Michael, Tony, Casper and Pius.
