Alice "Faye" Baker was born on June 11,1940 to Henry and Alice Baker in Underwood, North Dakota.  She was the 6th of 8 children.  Faye grew up on a farm west of Underwood.  In 1942, the family moved to Garrison, where she attended Garrison Elementary and high school.  Faye was baptized and confirmed at the First Congregational Church, Garrison. In 1955, the family moved to a farm northwest of McClusky, ND.  Faye graduated from McClusky High School in 1958.  In 1959 she married Theobold (Hienie) Stein.  They purchased the Lincoln Valley farm from Hienie's folks.  Faye helped with the family farm including operating machinery, running for parts, and doing all the things a farm wife does in support of the operation.  She raised thousands of chickens through the years and sold eggs to the Minot Hatchery and for butchering. Faye retired from the farm in 2004 and moved to the town of McClusky.

Faye was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church, past member of Homemakers, Sheridan County Farm Bureau Director, and President of Women's Community Club. She taught Bible school and Sunday school and sang in church choirs and small groups. Faye loved visiting with family and friends.  She liked country music, rodeos, Daniel O'Donnell, dancing, and was a very good cook and baker.  She loved sharing baked goods with others. Faye was patriotic and supported various charities honoring veterans.  She was famous for her lists, including daily prayer lists for her family, friends, and helpers. She liked crafts, quilting with the neighborhood ladies, and sold Artex paints and Tupperware.  Faye was interested in history, especially WWII and geography.  In later years, when her kids or grandkids went on trips, she'd study their destinations on the globe or atlas. Faye loved bingo. She shared this love by funding and facilitating bingo at the Sheridan Memorial Home for several years.  She also loved games and cards. Faye's greatest accomplishment was being a selfless mother who put others before herself.  She was empathetic and loved hearing about the accomplishments of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Faye was preceded in death by her parents Henry "Hank" Baker, Alice (Tower) Baker, brothers Darrow and Terry, and sisters Sylvia Simonson, and Doris Krebsbach.  She is survived by her children Fara (Phil) Hentsch, Troy (Sheila) Stein, and Valerie (Joe) Hermreck.  Surviving siblings are Bob Baker, Roger (Bettelu) Baker, and Betty Dunegan;

Surviving grandchildren are Jesse (Kelly) Hentsch, Mandy (Justin) Robb, Chris (Angie) Stein, Victoria Bentz, Shelby (Aaron) Bengtson, and Chantz Hermreck.  Surviving great grandchildren are Logan, Brett, Mya, and Jackson Robb, Cameron, Josephine, and Grayson Hentsch, Ellerady and Hailey Stein, and Presley and Lainey Bengtson.
