Obituary

Alice V. Dockter, 92, Goodrich, ND died Friday, November 15, 2013 at the St. Aloisius Nursing Home in Harvey.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 22 at Peace Lutheran Church, Goodrich, ND.

Burial will be in the Goodrich City Cemetery.

Visitation will be Thursday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Hertz Funeral Home, McClusky.

Alice was born on April 18, 1921 on the family homestead in Kidder County south of Tuttle, ND. She was one of nine children born to Philip and Katherine (Kraft) Binder. She lived on the family farm for several years before moving into Tuttle. Alice graduated from the Tuttle High School in 1939. She married Paul Dockter on August 9, 1939 at Steele, ND. They lived on the Davis Ranch for a time before moving to the C. F. Jenner farm northwest of Goodrich. Alice was a sales clerk at five different grocery stores in Goodrich and worked 20 years for Doering Super Value. She retired in April 1997. Paul passed away on December 29, 2003. She lived in Goodrich and in the Sheridan Memorial Home in McClusky for several years. She entered the St. Aloisius Nursing Home in Harvey in March 2012.

Alice was a member of Peace Lutheran Church where she was the Financial Secretary nearly 50 years. She also participated in the church's Bell Choir and regular Choir. Some of her hobbies included gardening, embroidering dishtowels and playing cards.

Alice is survived by her son Gary Dockter of Concord, CA; daughter, Marlene Hughes of Loveland, CO; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren

Alice was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three brothers, Adam, Edward and Richard; five sisters, Delia, Martha, Adlina, Bertha and Esther.
