Alice Buechler 79 of Harvey died Thursday March 24 at the St. Aloisius Nursing Home of Harvey. Funeral services will be held at the Bethel Baptist Church of Harvey on Monday March 28, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. Visitation will be held at the Hertz Funeral Home of Harvey on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Burial will be at the Sunset Memorial Gardens in Minot, ND.

Alice was born on October 13, 1931 in Roseglen, North Dakota. She was the daughter of Ole and Josephine (Flateland) Haugen. As a young child she grew up and attended school in Roseglen, ND. The family moved to Garrison, ND where she attended Garrison High School. Alice married Edwin Buechler on August 29, 1948 at Garrison, ND. Edwin was a grain buyer and they lived in two communities in Montana, and North Dakota, including Tolley, Linton, Sutton, and Lansford. Edwin died on February 7, 1990. Alice moved to Harvey in November of 1990. Alice was a very social person and enjoyed going places with her friends whether it was playing cards or bingo. Alice also loved to spend time with her family.

Alice is survived by five daughters, Marcia (Jerry) Wilhelmi of Badger, MN, Paula (John) Simenson of Arvada, CO, Georgia Buechler (John Hill) of Denver, CO, Carla Jacobson of Casselton, ND, Bonnie Schmidt of Parker, CO; sons, Benton (Dee) Buechler of Tucson, AZ, Barry (Mardelle) Buechler of Harvey; 20 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; sister, Annie (Semmen) Larson of Minot. Alice was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edwin; brothers, Oris Haugen, Telman Haugen, Gilmer Haugen, Ole Haugen Jr.; sisters, Jessie Neumiller and Orlene Pederson; son-in-law, Clinton Jacobson.
