Albertina "Dick" Knecht, 97 Hurdsfield, ND passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 9, 2014 at the St. Aloisius Nursing Home in Harvey.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 13 at the Chaseley United Methodist Church, Chaseley, ND.
Burial will be in the Goodrich City Cemetery, Goodrich, ND.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey, ND.
Albertina was born on November 23, 1916 at Harvey, ND. She was the daughter of Gust and Mary (Winter) Hannemann. She grew up on the family farm and attended rural school southeast of Harvey. In 1936 she moved with her parents into Hurdsfield, ND. She was employed by the Hurdsfield Post Office for three years. Albertina "Dick" married Bennie Knecht on October 13, 1940 in Goodrich, ND. They moved to a farm southwest of Hurdsfield and raised their family. In 1970 they moved to Chico, California where she cared for senior citizens and was a housekeeper. They retired in 1980 and moved back to Hurdsfield and in September 2012 moved to the St. Aloisius Nursing Home in Harvey.
Albertina "Dick" enjoyed embroidering and traveling. She also enjoyed baking with her specialty being kuchen. She loved to entertain her friends and family on game nights.
Albertina was a former member of the Church of the Nazarene in Hurdsfield until it closed and has been a member of the Chaseley United Methodist Church since 2011.
Survivors include her husband of 73 years, Bennie of Harvey; two daughters, Myra Gohl of Argyle, TX, Connie (Donavon) Czech of Bowdon, ND; son, Mervyn (Tammy) Knecht of Hurdsfield; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother, Alvin Hannemann of Cheney, WA; sisters, Esther Piatz of Belgrade, Montana and Evelyn Reedy of Harvey.
Preceding her in death were her parents; four sisters, Lorraine Brandt, Erna Nutz, Josephine Henne and Ruth Cook; brother, Edward Hannemann.
