Alan Bruce Whisman, age 71, Harvey, died Sunday, December 6, 2020 at home.   Alan took his last motorcycle ride as he skidded into Heaven's open doors surrounded by loved ones after a short battle with cancer.  He was at peace and ready to meet his Lord face to face.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, December 11, 2020 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Harvey.  The visitation will be at St. Cecilia Catholic Church from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 10, 2020 with a prayer service following at 7:00 p.m. at the church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.  CDC and state guidelines will be followed including a mask requirement at the church.

Alan was born March 15, 1949 in Butte, Montana to Harvey and Betty (Keach) Whisman.  As a child, the family moved to California where he attended school and enjoyed his love of ocean surfing.  Alan joined the U.S. Army in April 1966 and was honorably discharged in May 1968.  He spent that time in Texas and California.  He attended Santa Rosa Junior College in CA. where he studied Applied Graphics & Design.  Through the years he has worked at:  Industrial Painting, Carpentry, Avis Rent-A-Car, an apprentice in printing & printing machines with newspapers and magazines, designed wine labels with a wine company in CA and was a partner in a clothing store.  When he moved to Washington and California, he also helped fight forest fires.  He later moved to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho where he restored homes with his son, Nathon.  He was a creative artist and worked on many different types of art through his lifetime.                                                                              In 2007 he moved to Harvey purchasing a shop with various fruit trees in the yard.  He met his wife (Linda Mack-Hager,) in 2009 and on September 1, 2017 they each married the love of their lives.  Through marriage, there were also 4 children, Lisa Randolph, David Hager, Dale Hager and Jeffrey Hager and 11 grandchildren and families that became an important part of his life. Together, they enjoyed traveling the country and visiting with family along the way.  Previous to coming to North Dakota he was blessed with four children, Nathon; Annie; Amber and Melissa.

Alan had several pastimes in his retirement including Motorcycle riding (he was made an official supporter of Ventura's Hell's Angels (a group that spreads charity and love around the country); Art and caring for his fruit trees along with gardening.  His faith and family were very important to him.  Alan left his mark on Harvey having done extensive painting at St. Cecilia Catholic Church and School.  He also twice painted the Engine 440 Steam Locomotive in Harvey; the last time just two months ago.  He left a beautiful legacy of kindness and humor with all the people of Harvey who were fortunate enough to spend quality time with him.  He will be missed by those who loved him and knew of his silly wit and narrative stories.

Alan is survived by his loving wife, Linda; her children and families and extended sibling families; son, Nathon, Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; daughters, Amber, Bainbridge Island, WA; Melissa, Chicago, Illinois; Annie, Napa, CA;  siblings, Bob, Ridgecrest, CA; Gary, Guadalupe, CA; Anne, Las Vegas, Nevada; and William, Phoenix, AZ.; six grandchildren, one great-grandchild, life-long friend Mike Starkovich, Clearlake, WA, and numerous nieces and nephews.
