Agnes Zerr, 90, Harvey, ND died peacefully on Tuesday, June 18, 2019, at the St. Aloisius Nursing Home, Harvey, ND.

The funeral mass will be at 10:30 a .m. on Monday, June 24 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Harvey. Burial will be in the St. Cecilia Catholic Cemetery, Harvey, ND.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday, June 23rd, followed by a rosary and prayer service at 8 p.m. at Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey, ND.

Agnes Zerr was born on November 13, 1928, in Harvey, ND. She was the daughter of Adam and Magdalena (Hager) Zerr.  Agnes grew up on the family farm where she attended a rural country school near Harvey and graduated from Harvey High School in 1946.  Agnes attended Minot State University where she received a bachelor's degree majoring in Elementary Education and a minor in Business.  Agnes began her lifelong career as a teacher working in rural schools within Wells and Pierce counties. She later taught at an elementary school in Jamestown for two years before moving to Minot, where she taught at Lincoln elementary school for 30 years until retiring in 1991. Agnes loved the outdoors, gardening, books, crossword puzzles, playing cards with friends, was a crack shot with a rifle and had a competitive streak when it came to gopher hunting and collecting the tails for 5 cents.  Much of her younger years were spent helping her dad on the farm, she was a tomboy through and through who didn't fare well in the kitchen. Her sisters weren't just family, but her best friends. Agnes loved to drive around the countryside with her younger brother Sonny. She loved to travel and toured six foreign countries and many places within the United States and Canada.

Agnes was a devout Catholic and a member of the St. Cecilia Catholic Church, the St. Cecilia Altar Society, the Catholic Daughters of America, and held membership in the North Dakota Teachers Association.

Agnes is survived by two sisters, Merceda Zerr and Magdalene (Pete) Hoffart both of Harvey; nephew Adam J. Zerr III (Amanda Kristofik); niece Jody Doll-Wilhelm (Chad); nephew Tim Pyle (Jeanette); niece Deb (Kenny) Liebelt; niece Darla (Mark) Martin; nephew David (Jean) Alexander; great-nephews and nieces Skylar Doll and Bailey Doll, Corey Martin, Joel (Elisa) Liebelt and Jacey (Jeremiah) Fandrich, Connor and Cody Pyle.

Agnes was preceded in death by her parents Adam and Magdalena; brother, Adam J. Zerr Jr., brother-in-law, Peter Hoffart and sister-in-law, Joyce Zerr and her Aunt and Uncle Nick and Mary (Hager) Volk who grew up and lived with the Zerr family.
