Agnes Brakel 87 died Thursday November 19, 2015 at a St. Cloud, Minnesota Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Sunday November 22 at 1:00 p.m. at the Federated Church of Carrington.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time at the church.
Burial will be in the Goodrich City Cemetery.
Agnes Eleanor Erdmann was born on November 27, 1927 at home on the farm near Goodrich, North Dakota. Her parents were the late Fred and Lena (Johannsen) Erdmann. Agnes graduated from Goodrich High School with the class of 1946. From 1947 – 1951 Agnes was employed as a country school teacher in 3 schools in Sheridan County, North Dakota. On June 10, 1951 Agnes was united in marriage to Arley Brakel in Harvey, North Dakota. Agnes and Arley made their home near Heaton, North Dakota where they purchased a farm in 1952. Their marriage was blessed with four children and Agnes enjoyed being a housewife and a devoted wife and mother. Agnes and Arley enjoyed RV trips throughout the United States and enjoyed visiting relatives and friends from 1980 to 1996. Arley passed away on November 16, 1998. Agnes resided in Carrington, North Dakota from 1999 to 2013 and then made her home in Wadena, Minnesota. She was an active member and Sunday school teacher at Heaton Congregational Church in Heaton, North Dakota and became a member of the Federated Church after moving to Carrington. She enjoyed gardening, flower beds, and sewing quilts. Agnes was the family historian with a large collection of photo albums and scrapbooks that she kept up faithfully for over 65 years. After her retirement, Agnes enjoyed TV, crossword puzzles, e-mailing and visiting with family and friends. Agnes passed away peacefully on November 19, 2015 at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud, Minnesota at 87 years of age. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Preceding Agnes in death were her parents; husband: Arley; brothers: Dean, Gordon, and Melvin; sister: Elaine Pfarr. Agnes is survived by her children: Arlo (Phyllis) Brakel of Tucson, Arizona; Janell Brakel of New York Mills; Lonny (Carol) Brakel of Grand Forks, North Dakota; Janine (Jonathan) Holbrook of Lake Stevens, Washington; 5 grandchildren: Emi. William, Ana, Lena, and Chloe; 2 step-grandchildren: Adam and Ryan; brother: Howard (Connie) Erdmann of Goodrich, North Dakota; brothers-in-law: Thomas Brakel of Blooming Grove, Texas; Elmer Pfarr of St. Cloud; many other relatives and a host of friends.
