Adeline Kanwischer, 90, of Harvey formerly of Martin and Heimdal, ND died Saturday January 11, 2014 at the St. Aloisius Nursing Home in Harvey.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, January 17 at the Martin Baptist Church, Martin, ND.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey, ND.
Interment will be in the spring at Concordia Lutheran Cemetery, Hamberg, ND.
Adeline was born November 19, 1923 on the family farm near Martin, ND. She was the daughter of Jacob and Marie (Jans) Rust. She grew up in the Martin area, attended grade school there and graduated from the Martin High School in 1941. She graduated from Minot State University and taught for ten years in rural schools in central North Dakota and schools in Martin and Heimdal.
Adeline married Lawrence Kanwischer on June 2, 1952 in Martin, ND. They spent many happy years living and farming near Heimdal. Lawrence died on March 7, 1987. Adeline moved into Heimdal and later to Martin. She moved into the St. Aloisius Nursing Home, Harvey in October 2011.
Adeline was brought up in the Martin Baptist Church and attended there in her later years. She was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church, Hamberg. She taught Sunday School and was active in the church women's groups. She was also involved at the Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd in New Rockford. Adeline was a 4-H leader for 10 years and was active in homemakers clubs in Heimdal and Martin for over 50 years.
Adeline is survived by a brother, James (Jean) Rust of Martin, ND; sisters, Marcella Bertsch of Harvey, Patricia Ellingson of Minot; Julie (Ted) Kautzmann of Fairmont, MN; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; seven brothers, Alfred, Warren, Calvin, Gerhardt, Ralph, William and Terrance; one sister, Janice Fiske.
