Aaron F. Rau, 65, rural Kief, ND died Monday, August 1, 2016 at the St. Aloisius Hospital in Harvey, ND.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 5, at St. Martin's Lutheran Church, Anamoose, ND.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday at Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey, ND.
Burial will be in the Kassel Reformed Cemetery, rural Denhoff, ND.
Aaron was born on March 6, 1951 in Harvey, ND. He was the son of Alwin and Freda (Ammon) Rau. He grew up on the family farm in the Kief area and graduated from the Drake High School in 1969. Aaron attended Minot State University for one year. He worked at Genuine Parts in Harvey and at Braaten Cabinets in Kindred before returning to the family farm. Aaron married Margie Schaffer on October 11, 1986 in Eureka, SD. They lived on the family farm where Aaron farmed and ranched with his father and later on his own. He also worked at Polarware in McClusky for eight years and on the Albert Krueger farm near Kief. He also did custom barn yard cleaning.
Aaron had a passion for horses, cattle, and working on the farm with his family. He trained many riding horses for himself and others, and loved to ride in his cart with his miniature horse.
Aaron was a lifetime member of the Kassel Reformed Church and served as Deacon, Elder and cemetery sexton.
Aaron is survived by his wife, Margie of rural Kief; daughter, Marita Rau of Finley, ND; three sons, Fred of Bismarck, Sam of Drake and Jacob at home; two brothers, Allen (Roxanne) of Fargo, Arrel of Savannah, GA; sister, Doris (Rick) Bergeson of Minot; numerous nieces and nephews.
Aaron was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Arlen Rau and a stillborn daughter Alexis.
Aaron went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, August 1, 2016. Blessed be the memory of Aaron Rau.
