Martha Faul, 95, Harvey, ND died Sunday, July 17, 2011 at the St. Aloisius Nursing Home, Harvey.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday July 21 at the Mennonite Brethren Church, Harvey.
Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery, Harvey, ND. Visitation will be Wednesday from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey, ND.
Martha was born on July 26, 1915 near Sawyer, North Dakota. She was the daughter of Jacob and Marie (Sauter) Steffen. Martha grew up seven miles south of Sawyer and attended Roosevelt country school. Martha worked for area neighbors as a young woman. She married Reuben Lautt on March 10, 1935 at Sawyer. They moved to a farm south of Harvey. They lived there until 1939. They then moved to a farm south of Martin and lived there until 1967. Rueben died on June 23, 1968. Martha then moved to Harvey and worked at the school and different restaurants. Martha married Herbert Faul on September 4, 1971 in Minot and they lived near Harvey. Herbert and Martha took many trips in their married life. Herbert died on August 5, 1983. Martha then moved into an apartment in Harvey until moving into the St. Aloisius Nursing Home of Harvey on November 4, 2005. Martha enjoyed gardening, quilting and baking bread and kuchen.
Martha is survived by three sons, Ron (Anna) Lautt of Tigard, Or, Arnold (Adeline) Lautt of St. Helens, Oregon, Don Lautt of Twin Falls, Idaho; four daughters, Shirley (Dale) Opdahl of Manfred, ND, Janice (Ardean) Lang of Filer, Idaho, Lynda Rall of Portland, OR, Twila (Gerald) Knutson of Filer, Idaho; 22 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; step-children, Joan Kelly of Sarasota, Arizona; Leslie (Sandy) Faul of Powers Lake, ND; sisters, Sara Shippy of Arizona, Ruth Zimbelman of Minot, Laura Forthun of Minot.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Reuben Lautt and Herbert Faul; daughter, Adeline Gutknecht; son, Ruben Lautt; granddaughter, Kathleen Dawn Lautt; stepsons, Burton Faul and Wayne Faul; five brothers and one sister.
