Thomas McKinven

Thomas S. McKinven, 73, Harvey, ND died Friday, December 21, 2012 at the St. Alexius Medical Center in Bismarck.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 27 at Faith Lutheran Church which meets at the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Harvey.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey, ND.

Thomas Scott McKinven was born on April 2, 1939 on the family farm south of Martin, ND to Kenneth and Ethel (Finneman) McKinven. The family moved to a farm south of Harvey. He attended rural school and high school in Harvey. Tom entered the army in April 1958 and served at Fort Sill, OK until being honorably discharged in July 1959.

Tom married Delores Fischer on July 1, 1962 in Harvey. They lived and farmed south of Harvey. Tom was an avid outdoorsman. He was a fishing guide on Lake Sakakawea and guided upland game and waterfowl hunters for a number of years. He enjoyed numerous big game hunts in Colorado, Wyoming and Montana. Tom and Delores had moved into Harvey recently.

Tom was a member of the Wells Eagles Aerie in Harvey and the American Legion Post in Fargo, ND.

Tom is survived by his wife, Delores of Harvey; son, Scott and his wife Karla of Harvey; grandson, Keith; step-grandsons, Joshua (Katrin) Woitte and Justin (Nyla) Woitte; brother, Richard (Carol) McKinven of Harvey; three sisters, Marianne Trippodo of Mesa, AZ, Hazel (Albert Jr.) Faul of Harvey, Kathy (Harold) Wohl of Harvey.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert McKinven; brother-in-law, Louis Trippodo.
